About

TreatAddictions.com is a free, independent resource for people navigating addiction. Whether you are looking for help for yourself, trying to figure out how to support someone you love, or just trying to understand what addiction actually is, this site is for you.

Who we are

This site is built and maintained independently. It is not affiliated with any treatment center, insurance company, or healthcare system. There is no parent company. There are no investors with a stake in directing readers toward specific treatment options.

The information on the site draws from established sources, including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Where research and clinical guidelines are clear, we say so. Where they are not, we say that too.

What we offer

Plain-language information about addiction, treatment, recovery, and supporting a loved one. Honest content about what the evidence shows, including the parts that are uncomfortable or that other sites avoid. A directory of treatment providers, when it launches, that lists programs without paid placement.

What you will not find on this site: outcome promises, success-rate marketing, sponsored content, or referrals shaped by fees. The content here is built to help you make informed decisions, not to direct you toward a particular program.

Our editorial approach

Every content page on this site cites its sources. Pages list the date they were last reviewed. We use person-first language, because how we talk about addiction shapes how it gets treated. We avoid stigmatizing terms even when they are common.

Addiction is a medical condition, not a moral failure. Recovery is real and possible. Treatment works, though not always on the first attempt and not always in the way people expect. The site is built around those starting points.

This site does not provide medical advice

TreatAddictions.com is an informational resource. We are not a treatment provider, a clinical service, or a substitute for professional medical care. The content here is meant to help you understand addiction and treatment options, not to diagnose, treat, or recommend specific care for any individual situation.

If you are facing a medical decision about addiction treatment, talk to a qualified clinician. If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call 911. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day for mental health crises. The SAMHSA helpline (1-800-662-4357) offers free, confidential treatment referrals.
